Two Pakistani soldiers were killed in a cross-border attack by armed groups in Afghanistan on Sunday 29 August. Terrorists opened fire at a military checkpoint located on the border in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

As per intelligence reports, due to fire by Pakistani army forces, two to three terrorists were also killed and three to four terrorists injured, the statement added.

"Pakistan strongly condemns the use of Afghan land by terrorists for activities against Pakistan and hopes that future arrangements in Afghanistan will not permit such activities against Pakistan," the statement said.

Earlier, in a press conference, ISPR Director General Babar Iftikhar said his country hoped that the Afghan Taliban would keep their promise not to allow the country to be used against Pakistan or any other country.
